Hormonal Imbalances
ED in Men Causes & Signs

Hormonal imbalances can occur at any age and affect both men and women. The primary hormone in men is testosterone. As age increases, testosterone levels decline and can lead to a condition known as andropause. Testosterone deficiency may lead to decreased concentration, trouble sleeping, reduced muscle mass, memory fog, loss of libido, erectile dysfunction, and depression among other side effects.

If you have low testosterone and the commercially available drugs are not a fit for you, your Dr. may prescribe a Testosterone topical formulation customized for you. Contact our pharmacy and ask our pharmacist to work with your Dr. so you can receive a preparation that is tailored to your needs.

LEARN ABOUT

Trimix & Bimix Injections

Commonly known as Bimix, Trimix, or Quadmix, these preparations are customized for each individual’s specific needs. Your doctor, commonly your urologist, will first need to evaluate you, determine the appropriate dose, provide consultation and injection technique and warn about side effects that may occur as a result of using the injection.

How to Obtain?

Once you have been evaluated by your physician, he/she will then provide us with a prescription tailored to your specific needs, including dosing instructions and how much to use for each injection. Our pharmacy will then compound the exact formulation based on your doctor’s order and ship the medication to you overnight or have it available for pickup at our pharmacy.

How the medication works.

The preparation is injected directly into the side of the penis at its base and produces an erection anywhere from 5 to 15 minutes after the injection. It works by dilating the arteries of the penis and allowing blood to flow in. The erection can last anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour or longer.

Common Formulations

Some commonly prescribed mixtures are as follows:

Bimix – a mixture of Phentolamine Mesylate and Papaverine HCL. This combination is generally used for patients either new to ED injections or those are sensitive to alprostadil component of Trimix.

Trimix – a mixture of Alprostadil, Phentolamine Mesylate and Papaverine HCL. This combination is most commonly prescribed mixture, with varying doses depending on your physician’s orders. Alprostadil is a potent component of this mixture but may cause pain to some patients upon it’s injection.

Quadmix – a mixture of Alprostadil, Phentolamine Mesylate, Papaverine HCL and Atropine Sulfate. In this mixture atropine is added to increase the vasodilative effects of the other drugs.
